In Memorium  As we spend our lives with our horses; & our dogs, cats & other pets; & rescue more in need, inevitably, we lose our animal family and friends.  In their memory . . . .

You're In Our Hearts Joey ♥ (Joe's Approval: March 31, 1995 - Feb. 18, 2012)
~Joey fought for 10 weeks to overcome a devastating injury. Terribly, it became apparent that he could not heal, and so, this afternoon he passed peacefully after spending the day 'receiving visitors' who showered him with TLC, Love and plenty of treats. Thank You.
~Joey was a 'founding member' of Chestnut Ridge when we opened out doors. He, along with Gabriel, Dutchman & Wyatt --our "starter pack" - helped bring Chestnut Ridge from dream to reality. He was a green TB who became a trusted children's lesson horse who then became my personal mount as we showed our way up to Third Level. He moved on for a couple years and then I brought him home for good. He slipped into the role of Valued Schoolmaster and continued to be a fantastic, fun ride. I expected to have him around a good long time. Sadly that was not to be, but I've memories to last a lifetime --he was a hell of a character. Thank You Joey.

♥TOBY  ~ Rest in Peace ~ 1986/1987 - Aug. 3, 2009♥

Toby has been an integral part of this facility virtually since we opened our doors 10 years ago.  Therefore, I believe that it is fitting to place this memorial here:

Toby taught dozens of children, and adults, about horses & horsemanship during the past decade.   He generally conducted himself with good humor. Though at times he could be stubborn & opinionated, he was always safe.  And, I think, many, many people will have fond memories our our little "mini Belgian" for years to come.

Hi Lisa,
I made a video in memory of Toby.

"Not the least hard thing to bear when
they go from us, these quiet friends,
is that they carry away with them so
many years of our lives. Yet, if they
find warmth therein, who would
begrudge them those years that they
have so guarded?
And whatever they take,
be sure they have deserved."

Don't Cry for the Horses, by Susan Humphrey

They were ours as a gift, but never to keep,
As they close their eyes forever to sleep.
Their spirits unbound,
On silver wings they fly.
A million white horses,
Against the blue sky.
Look up into heaven,
You'll see them above.
The horses we lost,
The horses we loved.
Manes and tails flowing,
As they gallop through time,
They were never yours- they were never mine.
Don't cry for the horses,
They'll be back some day.
When our time is gone,
They will show us the way.
Do you hear that soft nicker?
Close to your ear?
Don't cry for the horses,
Love the ones that are here.
